There has been a lot of casting speculation surrounding Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, with Brenton Thaites (Maleficent) leading the charge. But according to original star Orlando Bloom, who is rumoured to return to the franchise after missing Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, we might not be heading for a fifth chapter, but a whole reboot to the series.
“I’m not entirely sure that [I’ll be back] just yet, but there are talks,” The actor told IGN. “Basically they want to reboot the whole franchise, I think, and do something with me and the relationship with my son… I’m of course Davey Jones now, so I’m down the bottom of the ocean. It might be kind of fun to do something where I’m rumbling round the bottom of the ocean, because I won’t look anything like me.”
Should Bloom return, he will join Johnny Depp reprising his role of Captain Jack Sparrow, Geoffrey Rush as Captain Barbossa and Javier Bardem as the villainous Captain Brand. No confirmation on plot, but it is rumoured that Brand will be a ghost who is looking for revenge against Jack Sparrow for the death of his brother.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales (or the reboot) should be in cinemas on July 7th, 2017.
