Pixels tops the UK box office thanks to four extra days of previews

UK box office top ten and analysis for the weekend of Friday 16th August to Sunday 18th August 2015…

Adam Sandler’s sci-fi comedy Pixels topped the UK box office chart with £2,660,772 from its opening “weekend”, which happens to include four days of previews, which accounted for £1.33 million of that figure.

If it wasn’t for previews, Pixels would have opened in fourth behind Inside Out, Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, and fellow new release The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which earned £1,448,298 from its own opening weekend.

Two other newcomers managed to crack the top ten, with the Judd Apatow / Amy Schumer comedy Trainwreck opening in fifth with £931,981, followed by Simon Pegg comedy Absolutely Anything in ninth with £487,147.
