Back in June it was announced that the classic British children’s show Danger Mouse would be returning to the small screen for a CBBC reboot, and now the BBC has revealed that Pointless host Alexander Armstrong will take over from David Jason as the voice of the eponymous super spy. Armstrong will link up with Kevin Eldon, who will lend his voice to Penfold, originally played by Terry Scott.
“As a lifelong fan of Danger Mouse, I was ecstatic just to know that the show was coming back,” said Armstrong. “To be actually involved with the reboot and to be taking DM out to a whole new generation is about as close to a dream job as you could wish for.”
“We’re all genuinely bowled over to have Kevin and Alexander on board as Penfold and the mighty DM himself,” adds CBBC controller Cheryl Taylor. “They are both funny and fabulously talented performers and… will ensure that the series’ considerable comedy credentials are bestowed on a new generation of fans.”
Danger Mouse will return to TV next year with 52 new episodes.
