Paramount has released the first trailer for Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, a continuation from 2018’s Bumblebee and the first film in what will be a new Transformers trilogy featuring characters from the fan-favourite Beast Wars series.
In addition to the trailer, Paramount has announced several new actors joining the cast as various transformers. First up is Game of Thrones veteran Peter Dinklage as the film’s villain Scourge alongside Liza Koshy (Work It) as Arcee, John DiMaggio (Futurama) as Stratosphere, David Sobolov (The Flash) as Rhinox/Battletrap, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez (tick tick… BOOM!) as Nightbird, Cristo Fernández (Ted Lasso) as Wheeljack and Tobe Nwigwe (Mo) as Reek.
Rise of the Beasts is taking the Transformers franchise back to the 1990s, with the film being set before the Michael Bay-era films took place. In the movie, we’ll be introduced to the Maximals and Terrorcons, two more cybernetic alien parties that will take sides in the Earth-bound battle between Autobots and Decepticons.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is directed by Steven Caple Jr. (Creed II) and features a cast that includes Anthony Ramos, Dominique Fishback, Luna Lauren Velez, and Tobe Nwigwe, along with Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal, Michelle Yeoh as Airazor and Pete Davidson as Mirage.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts is set for release on June 9th 2023.
