PS Plus version of DriveClub delayed due to server problems

October 9, 2014 by Tom Powter

DriveClub, the Playstation exclusive racer that was supposed to have launched with the console back in 2013, is being released this week across the world. However, the slimmed down Playstation Plus version that was supposed to accompany it will no longer do just that.

DriveClub’s developer, Evolution Studios, made the decision to delay the release of the free version to help alleviate the strain on the servers. Announcing the decision on their official Facebook page, DriveClub’s game director Paul Rustchuhnsky said: “We are sorry if you are having a hard time getting online as we know many of you are. Please be aware that the game will automatically keep trying to connect you. Once you’re online, you should have no further problems during your session. Everyone at the studio is now working hard to get new updates ready for the game servers to improve connectivity. We will be rolling out these updates day by day and will keep you informed.”

As well as the Playstation Plus version, Evolution will also hold back the release of the My DriveClub app in an effort to help players access the game’s servers.
