Quentin Tarantino plans to write novels and plays after retiring from filmmaking

December 12, 2015 by Gary Collinson

For the past couple of years, Quentin Tarantino has been suggesting that he’ll call time on his career as a filmmaker after reaching ten movies, and with his eighth film The Hateful Eight now just under a fortnight away from release, the director has reiterated that stance during an interview with THR, as well as discussing his post-retirement plans.

“I’m probably only going to make 10 movies, so I’m already planning on what I’m going to do after that,” said Tarantino. “That’s why I’m counting them. I have two more left. I want to stop at a certain point. What I want to do basically is I want to write novels and I want to write theatre and I want to direct theatre. I actually want to do a theatrical adaptation of Hateful Eight because I actually like the idea of other actors having a chance to play my characters and see what happens from that. [Reservoir Dogs] could be put onstage and has been put onstage many times.”

The Hateful Eight opens in the States on Christmas Day and in the UK on January 8th.
