Quentin Tarantino praises Christoph Waltz at Hollywood Walk of Fame star ceremony

December 3, 2014 by William Fanelli

Christoph Waltz has just received his star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. The German-Austrian actor is a two time Oscar winner, thanks to a little help from Quentin Tarantino, whose films Inglourious Basterds and Django Unchained earned Waltz accolades for both performances.

“This of course is something that I, as the guy from Vienna, would not even have dreamt about in my wildest dreams,” said Waltz at the ceremony. “…It takes someone far away to point out one [a star] and say ‘look at that one.’ …And the person who pointed his finger–the astronomer who said look at that constellation, it fits right in there and we can use it here–that’s Quentin. He did that.”

Tarantino was also present for Waltz’s big day on the Walk of Fame and, as usual, he had nothing but great things to say about his favorite Austrian, calling him “a master thespian,” who “does his work unadorned.”

Samuel L Jackson, another frequent Tarantino collaborator, joined the duo for the special occasion. He is set to star in Tarantino’s upcoming 2015 film The Hateful Eight. Jackson and Waltz, who worked together on Django Unchained, are currently filming “Tarzan” together. The film is slated for a 2016 release.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame’s first eight stars were unveiled back in 1958 and the organization now hosts about 24 induction ceremonies annually. Waltz marks the their 2,536th star.
