Having secured a distributor for his next project in Sony Pictures, it has now been announced that Quentin Tarantino’s ninth film – set to the backdrop of the Manson Family murders – will be released on August 9th 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Tate murders on August 9th 1969.
The plot description for the film, which is going under the working title of #9, reads:
“Set in Los Angeles in the summer of 1969, the film focuses on a male TV actor who’s had one hit series and his looking for a way to get into the film business. His sidekick—who’s also his stunt double—is looking for the same thing. The horrific murder of Sharon Tate and four of her friends by Charles Manson’s cult of followers serves as a backdrop to the main story.”
As yet, there’s been no word on casting, but Tarantino is said to have had talks with Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Margot Robbie and Jennifer Lawrence with regards to potential roles.
