Some very sad news to report this evening as it has been announced that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers actor Jason David Frank has passed away, having tragically committed suicide aged just 49.
“Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being,” the actor’s rep confirmed to TMZ following reports on social media of his passing. “He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed.”
An actor and martial artist, Jason David Frank debuted in the first season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers as Tommy Oliver, initially as the Green Ranger before leading the team as the White Ranger.
Frank starred in the first three seasons of the Power Rangers franchise along with 1995’s Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and 1997’s Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. A huge fan favourite, he would return to the franchise numerous times over the years, his last on screen appearance coming in 2018’s 25th anniversary episode of Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel.
Our condolences to Jason’s family and friends at this incredibly sad time.
