Radu returns in trailer for Subspecies V: Bloodrise

February 4, 2023 by Amie Cranswick

Full Moon Features has released a trailer for Subspecies V: Bloodrise, the next instalment in the cult horror movie series.

Directed by Ted Nicolaou, the prequel spans across 500 years of the life of vampire Radu (Anders Hove), and tells his story from being stolen as a baby by crusaders and being trained as a noble warrior of the Church by mystic monks, to his descent into a depraved, blood-hungry creature of the night.

Stolen by crusaders on the night of his birth from his demon mother and vampire father, Radu grows up with no knowledge of his monstrous bloodline. Trained and exploited by a brotherhood of mystic monks to slay all enemies of the church, fate brings him back one night to his father’s castle, armed with the monster-slaying Sword of Laertes, to destroy the vampire Vladislas and reclaim a holy relic, the Bloodstone.

The horrifying events that unfold turn Radu from a honorable man into a vampire with no master, setting him on a centuries-long quest for sustenance, for companionship, for the treacherous one who stole him from the sun, and for the Bloodstone he hopes will bring him peace.

Spanning 500 years in the life of the vampire Radu Vladislas, this long-anticipated prequel to the Subspecies series chronicles Radu’s descent from a noble warrior for the Church to a depraved creature of the night.

Subspecies V: Bloodrise is expected to release later this year.
