RailGods of Hysterra trailer showcases Lovecraftian landscapes

December 18, 2024 by Andrew Newton

Digital Vortex Entertainment and developer Troglobytes Games have released a new trailer for their co-op base building survival action game RailGods of Hysterra.  This new trailer showcases the first biome of the game’s procedurally generated world, which has been inspired by Lovecraft’s ‘The Shadow over Innsmouth’ story.  Watch the new trailer below to see this first biome and its denizens…

RailGods of Hysterra takes players to a decaying dimension filled with strange creatures and entities that have been created by the ancient cosmic beings known as the Great Old Ones, who have taken over and corrupted the world.

As one of the survivors, players will need to survive this nightmarish environment and create a bond with the RailGod, a huge roaming fortress crafted from steel and flesh using numerous obscure arcane rituals.  Once the bond is formed, players will travel through this corrupted world and battle otherworldly creatures and deranged cultists and feed their remains to the RailGod so they can continue their journey.

As players journey through the world, they will be able to craft additional railway carriages that they can use for general storage, storing loot and workbenches.  These workbenches can be used to create powerful new gear and weapons that can enhance character abilities.

This nightmarish world and the perilous endeavours that characters will encounter means that players will accrue and need to manage their ever-growing madness to unlock powerful GodKeeper Skills.  There will be various skill sets for distinct playstyles and players can try out which works best for them.

Look out for the madness of RailGods of Hysterra arriving on Steam Early Access for PC in 2025.
