Rainn Wilson (The Office) has joined the cast of AMC’s upcoming Western noir thriller Dark Winds from creator Graham Roland and executive producers George R.R. Martin and Robert Redford. He’ll lead the series alongside Zahn McClarnon (Westworld) and Kiowa Gordon (Roswell, New Mexico).
Dark Winds will be an adaptation of Tony Hillerman’s Leaphorn & Chee book series. It is described as “a psychological thriller that follows two Navajo police officers, Leaphorn (McClarnon) and Chee (Gordon), in the 1970s Southwest as their search for clues in a grisly double-murder case forces them to challenge their own spiritual beliefs and come to terms with the trauma of their pasts.”
Wilson will star as Devoted Dan, “a pious missionary who relies on his divine faith to recruit followers to the gates of his used-car lot. He is also a degenerate and practitioner of every biblical sin he decries.”
Starring alongside McClarnon, Gordon and Wilson are Noah Emmerich (Space Force) and Jessica Matten (Tribal). Vince Calandra will showrun and executive produce the series alongside Roland, Martin, Redford and McClarnon. Director Chris Eyre (Skinwalkers) will direct the pilot episode and executive produce as well.
