Rami Malek looks to follow up his Oscar-winning role as Queen frontman Freddie Mercury in Bohemian Rhapsody by taking the lead in a biopic about another legendary entertainer.
As reported by Deadline, Malek is attached to play silent movie star Buster Keaton in a limited series from Warner Bros. Television, which has The Batman helmer Matt Reeves attached to direct.
According to the trade, the project will be based upon James Curtis’ biography Buster Keaton: A Filmmaker’s Life and has Emmy winner Ted Cohen (Friends, Succession, Veep) in negotiations to write and executive produce. Reeves will produce through his 6th & Idaho Productions and the package is set to be shopped to potential outlets.
Actor and filmmaker Buster Keaton was born into a a vaudeville family in 1895 and went on to become one of the biggest stars of the silent film era, with his 1926 feature film The General in particular widely regarded as one of the finest movies ever made.
