Back in November it was announced that Millennium Films was looking to capitalise on the success of Wonder Woman with its own female-fronted comic book adaptation Red Sonja, and now the project has found a screenwriter.
According to Deadline, Ashley Edward Miller (Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Black Sails) will pen the script for the movie, which is being produced by Avi Lerner (The Expendables, Olympus Has Fallen).
“It’s an exciting opportunity to faithfully adapt the amazing Hyborean world Robert E. Howard created, and inject it with Sonja’s intelligence, ferocity, and fearless humanity,” said Miller. “I want people to love Sonja the way I love her, and walk out of the theater understanding why she’s so popular and enduring. Sonja is an icon.”
Brigitte Nielsen previously potrayed the character in 1985’s Red Sonja movie, while Robert Rodriguez was previously attached to an abandoned big screen reboot and Ashley Edward Miller.
