Reggie, Moose and Dilton cast in The CW’s Riverdale pilot

March 13, 2016 by Gary Collinson

The CW continues to fill out the supporting cast of its live-action Archie series Riverdale, with Ross Butler, Daniel Yang and Cody Kearsley announced as joining the pilot. Butler will play Archie’s rival Reggie Mantle, with Yang as the brilliant Dilton Doiley and Kearsley portraying Riverdale’s resident jock Moose Mason.

Riverdale offers a bold, subversive take on Archie, Betty, Veronica, and their friends, exploring small-town life and the darkness and weirdness bubbling beneath Riverdale’s wholesome facade. The show will focus on the eternal love triangle of Archie Andrews, girl-next-door Betty Cooper, and rich socialite Veronica Lodge, and will include the entire cast of characters from the comic books—including Archie’s rival, Reggie Mantle, and his slacker best friend, Jughead Jones.

K.J. Apa (Shortland Street) is set to play Archie in the pilot, while the cast also includes Lili Reinhart (Surviving Jack) as Betty Cooper, Cole Sprouse (The Sweet Life of Zack and Cody) as Jughead, Ashleigh Murray (The Following) as Josie McCoy, Madelaine Petsch (The Curse of Sleeping Beauty) as Cheryl Blossom, Madchen Amick (Twin Peaks) as Alice Cooper, Marisol Nichols (Teen Wolf) as Hermione Lodge and Luke Perry (Beverly Hills, 90210) as Fred Andrews.
