FX has released the trailer for the third and final season of Reservation Dogs, following the group in California as they try to make their way back home on this wild road trip. Watch the trailer below…
Reservation Dogs was created by Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi with Devery Jacobs, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, Paulina Alexis and Lane Factor as Indigenous teenagers Elora, Bear, Willie Jack and Cheese respectively. The series earned a heap of praise for its first two seasons for its acting, writing, comedy and representation of Indigenous people. Each season was named AFI’s Television Program of the Year with the series winning two Independent Spirit Awards, a Gotham Award and Peabody Award throughout its run.
When it was announced the third season would be its final one, planned by Harjo and Waititi as they developed the story, Harjo wrote a long, heartfelt message to fans on his Instagram, saying “the first and most basic idea for us as Native people, was to show the world that Native humor and Natives are funny. Almost all television and film depictions about Native people are mostly inaccurate. And most of them have been untruthful. It has been a gift to us to show the world a different perspective of Indigenous people and our culture. Most important of all, it has been a dream to collaborate and make a show that is entirely written by, directed by and stars Native people. These are our stories, and they represent our people. We know it’s an enormous responsibility and we never took that lightly. It has been an incredible experience to have the show embraced so lovingly by the audience and TV critics.”
