Remember back in the ’90s when we had the classic point and click adventures The Secret of Monkey Island and Monkey Island 2: LeChuck’s Revenge and then many years later when we had the Special Editions on PC and consoles? Did the games ever get you wanting more of Guybrush Threepwood’s antics? If the answer to those questions is yes then you’ll be happy to hear that Ron Gilbert’s Terrible Toybox, Devolver Digital and Lucasfilm Games have announced Return to Monkey Island will be coming later this year.
Return to Monkey Island is rumoured to continue from where LeChuck’s Revenge ended and from the trailer we can see that Guybrush Threepwood will be making an appearance but fans of the Monkey Island games may be wondering if we will see other familiar favourites such as LeChuck or Elaine. We will have to wait a bit longer in order to find this out.
The first two Monkey Island games were written by Ron Gilbert and they are by far the ones that gamers of the day remember most fondly. This return to the franchise by Ron Gilbert is a very welcome return and hopefully it will capture all the wonderful writing and humour that was evident in the first two.
