Richard E. Grant, who has recently been cast in Star Wars: Episode IX, says that he is not playing Grand Admiral Thrawn despite speculation to the contrary.
When it comes to Star Wars, the rumours and speculation never stop and considering that Episode IX isn’t coming out until December 2019, this is giving fans even longer to ponder what might happen.
One such rumour is that newly cast actor Richard E. Grant might, in fact, be playing fan favourite villain Grand Admiral Thrawn – once a Legends character who has now become canon through animation and books. Grant has put this rumour quickly to bed, however, telling Radio Times that he is not playing the character:
“I’m not playing the Star Wars character you just mentioned. I’m not allowed to tell you anything. Otherwise I would be fired. It’s a complete lockdown on any information whatsoever.”
While this news may disappoint some fans who would love nothing more than to see Thrawn on the big screen, there’s plenty of time for more fun rumours to emerge regarding who actors like Grant might be playing.
