Ridley Scott has filled out more roles in his upcoming adaptation of The Dog Stars. According to Deadline, Margaret Qualley (The Substance), Josh Brolin (Dune: Part Two) and Guy Pearce (Memento) will star alongside Saltburn‘s Jacob Elordi in the post-apocalyptic tale.
The film follows Elordi’s Hig, a lonely pilot in post-apocalyptic America. Using an abandoned airbase as his home, Hig travels the surrounded landscape as he strives to survive with his elderly dog Jasper and find other survivors in a scorched landscape.
Qualley will play Cima, “an intern doctor, the daughter of a protective world-weary rancher, played by Guy Pearce who fiercely guards his kin and fortress.
Brolin meanwhile will play Bangley, a ‘Ranger’ who shares the airbase with Hig as they both reluctantly tolerate each other’s presence.

The Dog Stars was written by Peter Heller with the screenplay adapted by Christopher Wilkinson (Ali) and Mark L. Smith (Twisters). Scott will produce through his company Scott Free Productions with Michael Pruss, Mark L. Smith and Cliff Roberts. Production is to begin in April in Italy.
