Merge Games has announced that they will be releasing their real time riot simulation Riot: Civil Unrest on Xbox One, Playstation 4, Nintendo Switch and PC this February. This real time sim was inspired by the NO-TAV protests in northern Italy witnessed by the game’s artist and creator, Leonard Menchiari. A gameplay trailer has been released to accompany the announcement, watch this below…
Riot: Civil Unrest is a complex strategy game that sees players able to control either the protestors or law enforcement in full scale riots. Players will be able to work through four campaigns and over 30 individual scenarios based around some of the world’s most recent confrontations, including Oakland in California, Tahrir Square in Egypt and Caracas in Venezuela.
Each scenario will present different objectives for the player to accomplish and players will be able to choose how to handle each situation with the choice of different strategies and tactics. Either full force or a softer approach can be used to achieve an ideal outcome. Each individual in the riot will have its own artificial intelligence which gives the crowd a very realistic and fluid movement.
Riot: Civil Unrest is set to launch on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this February.
