Following on from the release of the sequel last month, it has now been revealed that a prequel to the cult crime thriller Rise of the Footsoldier is in development, with Craig Fairbrass revealing the news during an appearance on the London Live sports series Jimmy Bullard Kicks Off.
“They are doing another one, they’ve asked me to do another one. I’m talking to them at the moment but its Julian Gibley who wrote the first original one, he’s now writing the script which is called Rise of the Footsoldier The Beginning,” said Fairbrass. “It’s basically based on Pat Tate’s entire life – from boy, borstal to the prison, the Kenny Noye, it’s another heavy duty gangster.”
Rise of the Footsoldier was released in 2007 and tells the story of Carlton Leach (Ricci Harnett), a football hooligan who rises through the ranks of a notorious criminal organisation to become one of the most feared and powerful gangsters in the country. The sequel, Rise of the Footsoldier Part II, was released on DVD this past Boxing Day.
