Two actors from very different generations are set to team up for an upcoming comedy. Oscar winner Robert De Niro (Meet The Parents, Goodfellas) and Hollywood heart-throb Zac Efron (Bad Neighbours, The Paperboy) being eyed to star in Dirty Grandpa, the latest film from Dan Mazer, director of I Give It A Year and co-writer of Borat, Ali G and Bruno with Sacha Baron Cohen.
Early talks have already started to take place, but if all goes well the film will see Efron will play a young man who is tricked into driving his grandfather (De Niro), a perverted former Army general who thinks his grandson is about to marry the wrong woman, to Florida for spring break. Think Spring Breakers and 22 Jump Street with a dash of The Guilt Trip and Planes, Trains and Automobiles.
If all goes well with the talks, Universal are looking at getting the film out sometime in the next year, schedules and deals pending.
