Deadline is reporting that Netflix has tapped Jennifer Lopez to star in an adaptation of Liv Constantine’s bestselling 2018 psychological thriller novel The Last Mrs. Parrish, with Back to the Future and Forrest Gump’s Robert Zemeckis set to direct.
The film will see Lopez playing a con artist “who targets a wealthy couple — the Parrishes — as her next victims. She infiltrates the pair by befriending the wife and seducing the husband, with the master plan of becoming the next Mrs. Parrish, only to discover that the wife’s life is far more complicated than she could have imagined.”
Oscar-nominated writers Andrea Berloff (The Mother) and John Gatins (Flight) are currently writing the script, taking over from Lisa Rubin (Gypsy) who was brought in to adapt the novel when Netflix first secured the rights in 2021.
The Last Mrs. Parrish marks the latest Netflix outing for Lopez after the action thriller The Mother and sci-fi Atlas, as well as the documentary Jennifer Lopez: Halftime. She was last seen in the sports drama Unstoppable and has the Bill Condon-directed musical drama Kiss of the Spider-Woman releasing in October after premiering at Sundance in January. Zemeckis meanwhile is coming off the drama Here, which reunited him with Forrest Gump stars Tom Hanks and Robin Wright.
