Following his critically-acclaimed Thai-cave drama Thirteen Lives, Ron Howard is sticking with the survival sub-genre for Origin of Species, and has enlisted Ana De Armas, Jude Law, Alicia Vikander and Daniel Brühl to star.
Based on two differing accounts of the same true story, Origin of Species is described as “a darkly comic tale of murder and survival, set around a group of eclectic characters who abandon civilization for the Galapagos. They are all searching for the answer to that ever-pressing question that plagues us all: what is the meaning of life.”
According to Deadline those “eclectic characters” will be played by Academy Award nominee Ana De Armas (Blonde), Oscar nominee Jude Law (The Talented Mr. Ripley), Golden Globe nominee Daniel Brühl (Rush) and Oscar winner Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina).
Tetris scribe Noah Pink has written the script, with shooting set to get underway in Queensland, Australia in 2023.
