While the news that the Hellboy franchise is being rebooted has been known for weeks, we haven’t heard too much from original Hellboy Ron Perlman, whom we know has been replaced with Stranger Things star David Harbour on the new film.
Recently, however, Perlman broke his silence with some kind words for Harbour, as well as some insight into the ill-fated third movie in the Hellboy trilogy:
“David Harbour is a good dude. I wish him nothing but the best when it comes to the retooling of Hellboy.”
He also teased what the third Hellboy movie would have looked like: “The third one was meant to be epic and conclusive and a resolve for all these, almost, Greek oracle promises of the destiny of Hellboy. It would’ve made for a really good movie, I think.”
While the reboot, titled Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, sounds like it could be amazing, one can’t help but be disappointed that we won’t get to see Ron Perlman finish the story that he began telling with Guillermo del Toro.

Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen is slated for release in 2018, with Hellboy creator Mike Mignola penning the screenplay alongside Andrew Cosby and Christopher Golden and Neil Marshall (The Descent, Game of Thrones) set to direct.
