9-year-old Jacob Tremblay, who was recently awarded with the Best Young Actor/Actress award at the Critics Choice Awards for his performance in Room, has signed on to guest star on Fox’s critically acclaimed comedy The Last Man on Earth.
The breakout actor will play a young version of Will Forte’s Phil Tandy Miller for one episode; presumably, Tremblay will appear in a flashback, which is a device that has rarely been used in past episodes of the show.
Not only did critics praise Tremblay for his portrayal as Jacob alongside Brie Larson in Room, but over the last few months, the actor has received numerous nominations and awards from such esteemed groups as the Screen Actors Guild and the National Board of Review.
Tremblay will be popping up in numerous projects over the course of 2016, including four movies: Mike Flanagan’s Before I Wake, Jordan Roberts’s Burn Your Maps, Farren Blackburn’s Shut In and Colin Trevorrow’s The Book of Henry.
The Last Man on Earth, which is currently on hiatus, will return to the airways on March 6th, with the remaining eight episodes of its second season. Kristen Schaal (30 Rock), January Jones (Mad Men), Mel Rodriguez (Getting On), Cleopatra Coleman (Step Up Revolution) and Mary Steenburgen (Orange is the New Black) round out the show’s cast.
