Academy Award nominated actress Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) is set to play the famous war reporter Marie Colvin in an as-yet untitled film.
Colvin worked in many conflict zones during her career, travelling to places like Chechnya, Kosovo, Sierra Leone, Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka, where she in fact lost her left eye in 2001.
She wore a distinctive eye patch ever since that incident until she was later killed in 2012 by a rocket attack while covering the Syrian civil war for the Sunday Times.
Production for the film is set to get underway in the UK and the Middle East this October.
The screenplay has been written by Arash Amel, adapted from the Marie Brenner Vanity Fair article titled Marie Colvin’s Private War.
The film will be directed by Matthew Heineman who has recently received Oscar and Emmy nominations for this documentary Cartel Land.
Pike recently completed work on Scott Cooper’s Hostiles which will also star Christian Bale and Ben Foster.
