It is an exciting time for Star Wars fans as the third season of The Mandalorian will premiere next week, but there is much more on the horizon as producer Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni are developing other Star Wars series for Disney+, one of which is the upcoming Ahsoka. A release date has not yet been given, but series lead Rosario Dawson revealed when she thinks Ahsoka will premiere.
In an interview on NBC’s talk show Today with Hoda and Jenna, the topic turned to Dawson’s future in the Star Wars franchise and when fans can expect to see Ahsoka once again. “Ahsoka, that’s going to probably come out in the Fall,” Dawson said. “We’re going to have Haunted Mansion coming out in August first.”
Ahsoka follows Ahsoka Tano, a former Jedi who trained under Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars. A fan-favourite character created by Filoni and voiced by Ashley Eckstein, she was introduced in the animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars and has since appeared in Star Wars Rebels and Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi. Ahsoka made her live-action debut in the second season of The Mandalorian with Dawson in the role as she and Din Djarin partnered up against a local warlord and she reprised the role briefly in The Book of Boba Fett.
No plot details have been revealed yet for Ahsoka, but the series will feature several Rebels characters making their live-action debuts as it follows up on Rebels‘ ending with Ahsoka and the young Mandalorian Sabine Wren searching for Ezra Bridger as well as Dawson’s own appearance in Mandalorian as she was searching for Grand Admiral Thrawn, the last person seen with Ezra in the Rebels finale.
Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson as the titular Ahsoka Tano, Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger and Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren. Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ivanna Sakhno, Lars Mikkelsen and Ray Stevenson also star in the series in as-yet-unconfirmed roles.
