According to Collider, actress Rose Byrne is in talks to join Steve Carell in the cast of Irresistible, which is being written, directed and produced by former The Daily Show host Jon Stewart.
The site reports that Irresistible is a political satire that will see Carell playing a slick Democratic strategist who helps a retired veteran run for Mayor in a small, right-wing town in the swing state of Wisconsin. Byrne will play his counterpart, a cutthroat Republican running the campaign for the incumbent mayor.
Irresistible will mark Stewart’s second feature, having made his directorial debut in 2014 with Rosewater starring Gael Garcia Bernal.
Australian actress Byrne is coming off a rather hectic 2018, where she appeared in Insidious: The Last Key, Juliet, Naked, Peter Rabbit and Instant Family. She has the comedy Limited Partners set for release later this year, and is currently shooting family sequel Peter Rabbit 2.
