Orange Is the New Black and The Meg star Ruby Rose has signed on to star in the action thriller Doorman, which is being directed by Ryuhei Kitamura (Midnight Meat Train) and will start production in April.
Deadline reports that the movie follows “an officer in the Marines who becomes traumatized while serving her country and returns home looking for an opportunity to heal. She seeks refuge as a doorman at a labyrinthine, historic, New York apartment building but discovers that mercenaries are intent on destroying everything in their way to retrieve precious art hidden in the building walls.”
“Ruby has tremendous talent and a wide commercial appeal, which makes her perfect to lead this strong, female driven action movie,” reads a statement from Jason Moring (Super Troopers 2), who will produce the film alongside Harry Winer (Space Camp), Michael Philip (Becoming), Phin Glynn (Mad To Be Normal), Sara Shaak (A.R.C.H.I.E 2) and Shayne Putzlocher (Adventure Club).
Rose’s recent big screen outings include John Wick: Chapter 2 and xXx: Return of Xander Cage. She is set to headline The CW’s Arrowverse spinoff pilot Batwoman and also stars in the feature action thriller SAS: Red Notice, which unveiled a first-look image earlier this week.
