Rumour: Adi Shankar tops Sony’s Venom director shortlist

March 29, 2017 by Robert Kojder

With Sony pushing ahead with its plans for a non-MCU-related Venom solo movie (which is due to shoot this Autumn and will apparently carry an R rating), a rumour has emerged claiming that Adi Shankar is positioned at the top of the studio’s director shortlist for the project.

For those unfamiliar with Adi Shankar, he actually has experience dealing with the character of Eddie Brock/Venom, having produced a successful short film titled Truth in Journalism that explores the character in a documentary type setting. In addition to that, Shankar has also worked on an ultraviolent reimagining of the Power Rangers, and is also responsible for Dirty Laundry, a short film showcasing a highly accurate depiction of The Punisher with Thomas Jane as the lead.

It should be noted that the report comes from Kellvin Chavez of Splash Report, formerly of Latino-Review, so read into that what you will.

Let us know in the comments below if you think Adi Shankar is the right director for Sony’s Venom project…
