When it was first announced that Lucasfilm would be developing spinoff movies from the main Star Wars saga, one of the very first candidates mentioned for his own possible feature was the fan favourite bounty hunter Boba Fett.
As it turned out, the studio was moving forward with a Boba Fett solo film, even going as far as to develop an announcement trailer / sizzle reel for Star Wars Celebration 2015 before seemingly pull the plug after parting company with director Josh Trank.
Well, if a rumour from My Entertainment World is to be believed, it appears that Lucasfilm is dusting off the Boba Fett project and has it listed as an upcoming production, with the shoot set to take place in London. The site even offers up a brief synopsis, which is likely unofficial:
“An origin story of the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunter. Boba Fett is a Mandalorian warrior who was trained by his father-figure Jango Fett and became a notorious bounty hunter throughout the galaxy.”
Should the rumour prove true, the Boba Fett Anthology movie would likely occupy Lucasfilm’s as-yet-unrevealed 2020 release date (at the earliest), given that Lucasfilm has Star Wars: Episode VIII set for 2017, followed by the Han Solo movie in 2018 and Star Wars: Episode IX in 2019.
