It had been rumoured since the movie was announced that original Ghostbuster Dan Aykroyd was set to have a cameo in the upcoming Ghostbusters reboot. And some reports are suggesting that this cameo was filmed last night.
According to Indie Revolver, Aykroyd will cameo as a cab driver that Kristin Wiig tries to hail down. When he pulls away, he says the infamous line from the theme song, ‘I ain’t afraid of no ghost’ and drives off – to which Wiig shouts, “That’s a double negative! That means you are afraid of ghosts!”
UPDATE: Dan Aykroyd himself confirmed the cameo via Twitter. He did delete the tweet, but the folks over at Den of Geek captured it:
“Wiig and McCarthy play a pair of unheralded authors who write a book positing that ghosts are real. Flash forward a few years and Wiig lands a prestigious teaching position at Columbia U. Which is pretty sweet, until her book resurfaces and she is laughed out of academia. Wiig reunites with McCarthy and the other two proton pack-packing phantom wranglers, and she gets some sweet revenge when ghosts invade Manhattan and she and her team have to save the world.”
Ghostbusters is set for release on July 22nd, 2016 and will be directed by Paul Feig (Spy) with a cast that includes Kristin Wiig (Bridesmaids), Melissa McCarthy (Spy), Leslie Jones (Saturday Night Live), Kate McKinnon (Saturday Night Live), Chris Hemsworth (Avengers: Age of Ultron), Andy Garcia (Goodfellas), Michael K. Williams (Boardwalk Empire), Matt Walsh (Veep), Cecily Strong (Saturday Night Live) and Neil Casey (Saturday Night Live).
