Following the gargantuan box office success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens even among the cold weather and snowy winter nights of December, it didn’t really come as a surprise when the Rian Johnson-directed Episode VIII was pushed back from May 2017 to December 2017.
Now, following the success of the first Anthology movie Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Making Star Wars is reporting “our sources in the theater industry have received a release date of December 13th, 2018 for Star Wars: Han Solo. We are not saying the release date has changed but it could signify that a release date shift for Star Wars: Han Solo is in the works.”
While this isn’t a direct confirmation of the delay, history suggest that it is probably a safe bet. It is worth noting that the most recent press release revealing Emilia Clarke’s role has not mentioned any specific date yet outside a general 2018 window.
