Last summer it was announced that Legendary had won a highly competitive bidding war for the live-action movie rights to Pokemon, with the studio subsequently tapping Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) to direct a Detective Pikachu film.
Since then, we’ve heard little else about the project, however we now have a casting rumour from That Hashtag Show, which suggests that Legendary and Letterman are looking to cast some A-list talent in the movie.
Now, take this with a pinch of salt, but according to the site Hugh Jackman (Logan), Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool), Mark Wahlberg (Transformers: The Last Knight) and Dwayne Johnson (Baywatch) are all high on the shortlist to lend their voice to the titular Pikachu, although none of them have apparently taken any meetings with regards to the role.
Detective Pikachu is slated to begin production in January, with Letterman directing from a script by Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Alex Hirsch (Gravity Falls).
