The center of many conversations regarding Star Wars: The Last Jedi tends to be around why Luke Skywalker feels the Jedi order must be come to an end. While we don’t have an answer as to why yet – and likely won’t until the film is released – we do now have an interesting nugget of information about Luke Skywalker, which could potentially reveal a major plot point for Episode VIII.
Earlier in the year it was reported by Making Star Wars that Luke Skywalker had kept a piece of the Kyber crystal from Darth Vader’s lightsaber, and now the site is going one step further by stating Luke wears a necklace with a “red crystal protruding from the bottom of it” in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
The site also goes more into detail explaining that: “If Luke Skywalker has the last Darth Vader Kyber crystal, someone like Kylo Ren would really want it. I don’t know why Luke Skywalker doesn’t just destroy it. But he would clearly see that someone as into symbolism as Kylo Ren would be even more of a monster if he possessed it. If it is a story element, will Kylo get it back and stabilize his saber with the power source of his Grandfather’s lightsaber? It doesn’t sound like Kylo is getting it without getting better of Luke Skywalker first though.”
A rumour emerged last year suggesting that Kylo Ren and the Knights of Ren will attack Rey and Luke on Ahch-To, leading to an epic Jedi battle. Perhaps Kylo is looking to retrieve Vader’s Kyber crystal? Or maybe he just wants to kill Luke and get his revenge on Rey for defeating him in Star Wars: The Force Awakens…
