Despite never having been officially revealed as in development at Warner Bros., we get a new rumour about Man of Steel 2 every couple of months, the latest of which claims that the Superman sequel is targeting a 2020 release date.
The news comes by way of former Latino-Reviewer Mario-Francisco Robles, who claims that his Warner Bros. sources have informed him that the current plan is to have the movie in theaters in 2020.
If so, then we’d have to assume that Warner Bros. and DC Films are looking to begin production in late 2018/early 2019, meaning that an official announcement is likely to be made in the next few months (July’s San Diego Comic-Con International, perhaps?).
Last month, Superman actor Henry Cavill did reveal that he’s been “having conversations” about Man of Steel 2, stating that: “It is very much in my desire to do a Man of Steel 2, a direct sequel to Man of Steel, and there is a whole bunch of Superman story that I want to tell. There is a whole style of Superman’s character that I’m very keen to tell and I’m looking forward to the opportunity.”
Cavill went on to state that he was unsure as to when he’d next be portraying the Man of Steel, although rumours persist that he’ll be making an appearance in next year’s Shazam! movie alongside Zachary Levi’s titular hero.
