Late last week, the folks over at Bleeding Cool announced that their sources at Marvel had told them that the studio was looking to shut down Inhumans as it was only put in place so Kevin Feige could get his pet projects Black Panther and Captain Marvel off the ground. Well, they’ve now got a new rumour that Iron Fist is going to meet the same fate as Inhumans.
According to Bleeding Cool, Iron Fist is being micro managed by Marvel Studios, and the copious amounts of notes being sent back to the TV team (which they still have final sign off for) is “killing” the show. There were reports earlier in the year that Marvel were struggling to work out how to incorporate Iron Fist into the Netflix side of the MCU, because his supernatural powers didn’t fit with Daredevil, Jessica Jones and Luke Cage. Although in world where Thor exists and aliens attacked New York, a guy with mystical powers doesn’t seem that far outside the realms of possibility.
These rumours were furthered by no announcement of news or casting at the recent New York Comic Con, where Netflix’s MCU had a large presence. Marvel have released a synopsis for the show though.
Now, it should be noted that several other outlets shut down Bleeding Cool’s Inhumans claims shortly after they initially broke the news, saying that the film is very much on track. So it could be the case that everything in the Iron Fist camp is fine, and this just wild speculation. However, it should also be noted that BC also reported a troubled production on Fantastic Four that was also shot down by other outlets, before being revealed to be true after the film was released.
