Rumour: Marvel working on Rocket Raccoon and Groot TV series for Disney+

November 22, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in Setepmber it was announced that Marvel Studios will be producing a number of television series for Disney’s upcoming streaming service Disney+ featuring characters from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So far, the only project confirmed by Disney and Marvel is a solo series following Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, although it has also been reported that Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will receive her own show, while development is also said to be underway on a team-up series featuring Sebastian Stan’s Winter Soldier and Anthony Mackie’s Falcon.

Well, we can now add another project to that rumoured list, as That Hashtag Show is suggesting that plans may be afoot for a Guardians of the Galaxy spinoff centring on the fan favourite characters of Rocket Raccoon and Groot.

Given that both characters are CGI, a Rocket and Groot series would surely prove costly, although Disney and Marvel are said to be sparing no expense when it comes to the shows, with feature-level budgets.

As the site notes, Rocket and Groot have a history that predates the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, so a series could well serve as a prequel to the first film, exploring the duo’s early adventures before they team up with Star-Lord and company and therefore avoiding any potential issues with Marvel’s plans for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Would you like to see a Rocket and Groot series on Disney+? What other potential Marvel shows piques your interest? Let us know in the comments below…
