Rumour: Nightmare will appear in WandaVision and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

December 5, 2019 by Gary Collinson

It’s been suggested on several occasions that the supervillain Nightmare will feature in 2021’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, but if a new rumour is to be believed the character may in fact make their MCU debut in the Disney+ series WandaVision.

According to Charles Murphy, not only will Nightmare appear in WandaVision, but he will actually be the main villain of the show, which has been described as “part sitcom, part epic Marvel movie”. Furthermore, the report goes on to state that the role has already been cast.

We already know that WandaVision will be connected to the Doctor Strange sequel, and Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch will be joining Benedict Cumberbatch’s Sorcerer Supreme in Multiverse of Madness, and so while this rumour is unconfirmed, it’s certainly more than plausible.

As Murphy notes, WandaVision is expected to see Olsen’s Scarlet Witch trapped in some kind of fantasy reality, raising a family with Vision (Paul Bettany). This could easily turn out to be the ‘Dream Dimension’ – a realm ruled by Nightmare, where he uses his powers to siphon the psychic energies of tormented humans.

As for the role already being cast, the only MCU newcomer in WandaVision that we’re aware of so far is that of Kathryn Hahn (Bad Moms), who is set to portray “a nosy neighbour” to Wanda and Vision. Hmmmm…
