During the week, Sony announced details of its PlayStation VR, which is set to launch in October, and now comes a rumour that development is also underway on a mid-generation ‘PlayStation 4.5’ hardware update.
According to Kotaku, Sony is working on a new version of the PS4 console, which will feature an upgraded GPU to enable 4K resolution for gaves, as well as providing a processing boost for games supporting PlayStation VR.
As the site notes, a new device raises numerous questions, such as if it will be possible to upgrade existing consoles without having to purchase a new machine, and whether developers will be releasing titles that support only PS4.5.
Of course, until we hear something official, this should be treated as a rumour…
