The title X-Men: Supernova has been floating around the Internet for a good month now, with many assuming it to be the working title for the upcoming adaptation of X-Men: The New Mutants. Well, according to a new listing from Production Weekly, there’s actually two X-Men project in the works.
Production Weekly lists both X-Men: The New Mutants and X-Men: Supernova as separate projects, set to go into production in April and May respectively.
X-Men: The New Mutants is being directed by Josh Boone (The Fault in Our Stars) and will reportedly follow a group of teenage mutant superheroes training at Professor X’s School for Gifted Youngsters, while nothing is yet known about X-Men: Supernova.
However, Simon Kinberg has been working on a future X-Men script since last summer, and there has been a rumor that the next entry in the main series will present a new adaptation of The Phoenix Saga, following the tease in last year’s X-Men: Apocalypse.
This is of course all speculation at the moment, but we’ll keep you updated on X-Men: Supernova when more news is available.
