Last year’s Justice League seemed to indicate that DC Films’ was sewing the seeds to bring together the DC universe’s biggest villains for an Injustice League / Legion of Doom-style group with a post credits scene featuring a meeting between Jesse Eisenberg’s Lex Luthor and Joe Manganiello’s Slade Wilson.
Rumours have suggested that this team-up could build over a number of movies, with the likes of Aquaman featuring another post-credit stinger, and the storyline serving as the “connective tissue” of the next slate of DCEU films before culminating with an epic superhero vs. supervillain showdown.
Well, according to a new rumour from Revenge of the Fans, these Legion of Doom plans have been put on the back burner following the arrival of new DC Films chief Walter Hamada. Apparently Hamada’s immediate priority is to establish the next wave of DC films as standalone stories, and does not seem any point in building to a supervillain team-up when the next Justice League-style event movie is several years away.
The report also goes on to claim that the original post-credit scene for Aquaman would have seen Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Black Manta recruited into the supervillain cabal, but that is no longer the case.
