Back in May it was reported that early development was underway on a sequel to last year’s hit action-comedy The Hitman’s Bodyguard, and now comes word that the project is officially a go.
Titled The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard, the film will see the return of stars Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson and Salma Hayek, as well as director Patrick Hughes and screenwriter Tom O’Connor.
The film will see Reynolds’ bodyguard recruited by hitman Darius Kincaid (Jackson) and his wife Sonia (Hayek) to join them on a mission along the Amalfi Coast. Filming is slated to begin in March 2019.
Released last August, The Hitman’s Bodyguard was a solid hit for Summit and Lionsgate, grossing over $175 million at the global box office.
