Salma Hayek is set for her first U.S. TV starring role, with the actress teaming up to headline and executive produce an as-yet-untitled comedy series with Paul Feig (Ghostbusters), who will also direct.
The project has been written by Patty Breen (Divorce) and takes place in London with Hayek portraying an ambassador-type in the world of international diplomacy. The half-hour series is being produced by Image Television for Amazon, and is eyeing a pilot commitment to series.
While this will mark Hayek’s first starring role on the small screen in the States, she has previously guest starred in Ugly Betty and 30 Rock.
Freaks and Geeks creator Feig is also developing the female-led comedy pilot Girls Code from Kim Rosenstock (New Girl, GLOW), and has the Anna Kendrick / Blake Lively thriller A Simple Favor set for release in September. Watch the trailer here.
