Universal Pictures has released a behind the scenes featurette for 1917 which showcases director Sam Mendes’ vision of telling the story of the First World War epic in one continuous shot and includes interviews with Mendes, cinematographer Roger Deakins, producer Pippa Harris, stars George Mackay and Dean-Charles Chapman, and co-writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns; take a look below…

At the height of the First World War, two young British soldiers, Schofield (Captain Fantastic’s George MacKay) and Blake (Game of Thrones’ Dean-Charles Chapman) are given a seemingly impossible mission. In a race against time, they must cross enemy territory and deliver a message that will stop a deadly attack on hundreds of soldiers— Blake’s own brother among them.
1917 is set for release on Christmas Day 2019 in North America and on January 10th 2020 in the UK, and features a cast that includes George MacKay, Dean-Charles Chapman, Mark Strong, Andrew Scott, Richard Madden, Claire Duburcq, with Colin Firth, and Benedict Cumberbatch.
