Deadline is reporting that Marvel Cinematic Universe stars Samuel L. Jackson and Anthony Mackie are teaming with X-Men’s Nicholas Hoult for The Banker, a fact based drama from director George Nolfi (The Adjustment Bureau).
The film tells the story of two African American entrepreneurs, Bernard Garrett (Mackie) and Joe Morris (Jackson), who attempted to circumvent the racial limitations of the 1950s by hiring a working class white man, Matt Steiner (Hoult), and training him to pose as the head of their business empire while they pretended to be a janitor and a chauffeur.
Nia Long (The Best Man) is also on board as Bernard’s wife Eunice, who also plays a key role in setting up the enterprise. However, their enormous success soon brings about unforeseen risk of exposure that threatens everything.
Filming on The Banker is now underway in Atlanta, Georgia, with Rumulus Entertainment (Fences, Beatriz at Dinner) producing.
