Samuel L. Jackson has revealed how Spider-Man’s reaction to Nick Fury is different than Captain Marvel’s

March 14, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Samuel L. Jackson, who recently starred in Captain Marvel, has revealed how Spider-Man’s reaction to Nick Fury is different than Carol Danvers’.

One of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s main strengths is the copious opportunities to see different beloved characters interact with each other, often having already appeared in their own movies. In Captain Marvel, Carol got to interact with MCU mainstay Nick Fury and the two developed quite a close bond as a result.

But how about Spider-Man? How will his interactions with Nick Fury in Spider-Man: Far From Home differ to Captain Marvel’s? Well, Samuel Jackson discussed this very subject in a recent interview with Radio Times:

“The energy level’s totally different. The dynamic between the characters too.

“Spider-Man’s a little more reluctant to engage with Nick Fury than Carol Danvers was. He has an intimidation factor. Even though he is Spider-Man, and I’m just Nick Fury, but… Fury’s reputation precedes him.”

It is certainly true that Spider-Man will be interacting with Fury after the latter’s legend has already grown so this will, of course, make their relationship very different to Fury and Captain Marvel’s, when Fury wasn’t the man he is today.

Set in the 1990s, Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe that follows the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes. While a galactic war between two alien races reaches Earth, Danvers finds herself and a small cadre of allies at the center of the maelstrom.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and sees Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) leading the cast as Carol Danvers alongside Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lashana Lynch (Fast Girls), Gemma Chan (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Algenis Perez Soto (Sambá), Rune Temte (Eddie The Eagle), McKenna Grace (I, Tonya), Annette Bening (American Beauty), Ana Ayora (The Big Wedding), Vik Sahay (Chuck), Kenneth Mitchell (Star Trek: Discovery), Chuku Modo (The Good Doctor), Clark Gregg (The Avengers) and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
