After last month’s departure of actors Michael Keaton and J.K. Simmons due to scheduling problems, Deadline is reporting that Legendary Pictures has identified their replacements for the upcoming new King Kong tale Kong: Skull Island.
Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers) is repotedly in talks over the role previously taken by Simmons, with Step Brothers star John C. Reilly top of a wishlist to replace Keaton. In addition, Brit Tom Wilkinson (Batman Begins) is also in talks to take on another lead role in the film.
Directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts (The Kings of Summer), Kong: Skull Island has already enlisted Tom Hiddleston (Crimson Peak), Brie Larson (Trainwreck) and Corey Hawkins (Straight Outta Compton) and is set to “fully immerse audiences in the mysterious and dangerous home of the king of the apes as a team of explorers ventures deep inside the treacherous, primordial island. Legendary’s story honors the foundations of existing King Kong lore, but places it in an entirely new, distinct timeline.”
Kong: Skull Island is set for release on March 10th, 2017.
