According to TV Line, ABC’s hit political thriller series Scandal is set to come to an end with its upcoming seventh season, with the network said to be making an official announcement this coming week.
According to the site, series creator Shonda Rhimes has made the call, having previously said that “I feel like there is a finite amount of Scandal to be told. So I know what the end of Scandal will be, and I feel really good about that. And I can see where the end point is. And I don’t think I’m going to change that.”
The show, which stars Kerry Washington as Olivia Pope, owner of a Washington, D.C. crisis management firm, has three episodes of its current sixth season remaining. It has been averaging 5.7 million viewers this season, down 20% from season five, and hit a series low of 5.1 million with its April 6th episode.
